Every year, I find that my students struggle with place value. Place value is so important for students to learn and will follow them all throughout math in every grade level.
Students who struggle with place value may also struggle with multiplication and division.
Helping students build a better understanding of place value will help them become better mathematicians.
The Common Core Standards does require students to generalize place value understanding for multi-digit whole numbers.
