Getting Work Done At Home With A Baby

After a few months of being home with the baby I went back to work as a teacher. I love teaching and I try to not bring work home. I fail often. Even after 13 years of teaching I have trouble getting all the grading and lesson planning done at work.

For a couple of months, this wasn't a big deal. He would nap. Then around 5 months old, he started napping less and when he did nap it wasn't for as long.

I had a bouncer and swing but they weren't doing the trick any longer. He wanted to be entertained.

I needed something that would keep him occupied and wear him out at the same time. I had work that needed to be done. I had laundry that needed to be folded. I had dishes that needed to be washed.

Then I discovered the jumper! My son loves his jumper and I love that I can have both my hands to do chores around the house or my work.

On the weekends, when I'm home I love taking him outside and often take the jumper outside with us. He'll jump while looking around and watching the dogs play. I sit with him talking about everything we see and hear. He's only 6 months old now but I still feel like its great mommy and son bonding time!

Although, I love the time I spend with my baby while he’s on the jumper, as well as the fact that the jumper can entertain him for a few minutes so I can get work done, they have other benefits too. Jumpers improve muscle tone and strength, improve their pre-walking skills, promote comfort and safety and visual stimulation and interactivity, not to mention that it can wear your baby out.

There are two main types of jumpers. One is the doorway jumper and the other is the activity center jumper. We decided to go with the activity center jumper. It is a little bit more expensive but it has more stimulating activities for his growing brain.

We bought ours at Target and I was impressed with their large selection of baby jumpers. We chose the Disney Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper. It has over 13 activities and my son's favorite is the interactive Squirt themed piano. He watches it light up and listens to the music repeatedly.

Here are just a few they have to choose from:

I hope you find one that fits your families' needs and you once again have both of your hands back!

Even if its only for a few minutes.

What are your thoughts and experiences?
