You have to crawl before you can walk.
Everyone knows that.
Everyone except my nine-month-old son.
At nine months old, he still doesn’t crawl. He scoots but he doesn’t crawl. He’s not interested in crawling.
He wants to walk.
I hold his hands and let him walk with me but even that only keeps him happy for a while. He wanted the freedom to walk where he wanted.
We bought him a walker and he hasn’t looked back. He walks around the house in it. He stops to pet the dogs and reach for anything he can reach. He walks into the kitchen to see what I am doing and then turns around to see what else is going on in the living room. He moves the steering wheel and honks the horn.
He's entertained, he's learning and he's happy!
Walkers have a lot of benefits for your baby.
Fun and Engaging
Walkers keep your baby engaged. Many have steering wheels, horns and other colorful and engaging toys. Many walkers allow you to attach your baby’s favorite toy to the walker so he can take it with him. These colorful and engaging toys can stimulate and baby’s metal growth and create cognitive connections and patterns.
Allows to Walk
For my baby, who is so eager to learn to walk on his own but still needs support, a baby walker was the perfect solution for us. He can walk with support but still has more freedom than if I was holding him.
For babies that aren’t interested in walking, a walker might also be a great way to encourage your baby to walk or at least take his first few steps.
I am so happy that we decided to buy him a walker and I love watching him move around the house and laughing and playing. I love watching him grow and learn and I find him so inspiring.
He doesn’t understand that he is supposed to crawl before he walks. So, he doesn’t let the fact that he can’t crawl yet hold him back.
I’ve decided that I am going to adopt this philosophy in my life. Whenever I am nervous about trying something new, I am going to remember that sometimes you don’t have to crawl before you can walk.
